Bird & Bird has posted 83 per cent trainee retention for this September.

The firm has 18 qualifiers, and 15 will remain at the firm in the autumn as newly qualified (NQ) solicitors.

As usual, the commercial and intellectual property departments take the bulk of the trainees: five each.

Two more go into the dispute resolution team, two to corporate and one to employment.

TwoBirds’ retention has remained consistent over the last few years: this is the third time in a row it has kept on 15 of its qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Osborne Clarke has kept on 14 of 17 qualifiers. Managing partner Ray Berg said: “Our aim is to create a great working environment that attracts and retains top talent. Congratulations to all of our autumn qualifiers and I look forward to seeing each of these trainees progress in our business.”

Eight of the qualifiers will work in Bristol, five in London and one in Reading.

Four join the real estate group, four go to commercial disputes, two to banking and one each to commercial, projects, corporate and intellectual property.
