Clyde & Co has promoted nine new partners across its international network in the latest move to increase its 375-strong partner base.

The insurance sector received the largest intake of partners, with the trade and commodities, marine, projects and construction and the corporate teams all bolstering their ranks. Two of the new promotions are women.

Nearly half of the new partner promotions were in Asia Pacific. Leon Alexander has been promoted to equity partner for trade and commodities in Singapore; Kevin Martin to the same position for corporate and insurance in Hong Kong and China; Tim Searle for insurance in Perth and Dennis Wong, who will become an equity partner for projects and construction in Hong Kong and China.

Two of the three equity partner UK promotions are in insurance; Katie Carmichael in Edinburgh and Kate Duffy in Manchester. Richard Elks has been promoted to the same position in the corporate sector in London.

Ben Smith was promoted in the corporate and foreign direct investment sector in Dubai, and in the US, David Jordan was promoted equity partner in Insurance in the Atlanta office. The appointments will be effective from 1 May.

Last year, the firm promoted 18 to partner in its largest round to date.

During the past year, Clyde & Co has made 36 partner level hires, including 15 in the US, 13 in the UK and Europe, 7 in APAC, and 1 in MEA. This includes the entire team from Miami litigation firm, Thornton Davis Fein, and an insurance team led by Henning Schaloske from Noerr, a full-service European law firm.

In January The Lawyer reported that the firm had launched two new offices in Washington DC and Chicago following the hire of 10 partners from international firm Troutman Sanders.

Simon Konsta, senior partner at Clyde & Co, said: “As an international firm, we’re proud that our new partners reflect the diverse range of people, talent and countries in which we do business. It also demonstrates the opportunities we give people to grow and develop with us across the world. The group contains top calibre lawyers who have demonstrated the market-leading advice and client service that we’re known for.”

Clyde & Co’s turnover jumped 17 per cent in the first six months of the 2016/17 financial year from £192m to £224m.
