Ogier has appointed advocate Matthew Thompson as managing partner of its Jersey office.

Thompson replaces Nick Kershaw who has been promoted to group chief executive. The firm said Thompson would continue with his client work as well as his role as cross-jurisdictional lead for the firm’s litigation practice.

The news comes as the firm also appoints Goldman Sachs’ head of UK strategic wealth advisory Ian Cain as director and head of Ogier Private Wealth.

Ogier said the appointment was a “significant milestone” for the firm. Prior to working at Goldman Sachs Cain was a tax partner and head of family business at Boodle Hatfield, before which he led Evershed’s domestic private tax service.
