Marriott Harrison has hired Mariel Monk as a litigation partner. She joins from Fasken Martineau in London, where she was a partner and head of litigation. Monk specialises in national and international general commercial, corporate, shipping and insurance work. She has a particular focus on professional negligence, insurance and international trade, including commodities, marine and logistics work, and oil and gas.

LONDON
• Anthony Gold has hired assistant Stephanie Prior. She moves from Charles Russell’s London office, where she was also an assistant. She joins Anthony Gold’s personal injury and clinical ­negligence team.
• Covington & Burling has appointed Morag Peberdy as of counsel in its London IP group. She joins from Herbert Smith, where she was of counsel.
• Howard Kennedy has taken on banking ­partner Graeme Carney from Hammonds, where he was also a partner.

SOUTH
• Dyne Drewett has hired Richard Pinney as a specialist consultant to join the firm’s agriculture team in Sherborne. He was previously a partner at Poole & Co.
• London- and Brighton-based law firm Healys has appointed Victoria Regan as head of ­employment. Regan was previously at Mayo Wynne Baxter, where she was an associate and led the employment team in East Sussex and Kent. Healys has also hired Michael McCabe as head of estates and tax ­planning from Crill ­Canavan in Jersey, where he was head of ­probate and estates.

SOUTH WEST
• Beachcroft has hired corporate finance ­associate Mark Gilder in Bristol from Morgan Cole, where he had been an associate for just over two years.

MIDLANDS
Eversheds London corporate partner Guy Green has re-joined George Green, the firm founded by his grandfather, as a partner in Cradley Heath.
• Cartwright King has promoted Dan Stowers to partner level in its business defence team. Blake Woodfield, Mark Hopwell, Raminder Shergill and Sundeep Soor have all been ­promoted to senior associates, while Lucie Malins has become an ­associate in the business defence team. Justine Robinson and Harry Bowyer, who are higher court advocates in the criminal defence ­department, have both been promoted to senior associate. Immigration ­specialist ­Ghuffar Usman has also been made
up to senior associate.

NORTH
• Derby law firm Robinsons Solicitors has hired family law assistant Jane Livingstone. She was previously at Irwin Mitchell, where she was an assistant.
Keoghs has appointed Peter Hubbard as
non-executive director. Hubbard was formerly chief ­executive of insurance company Axa.

EUROPE
DLA Piper has hired Betty Louie as counsel in its corporate practice in Rome. She joins from K&L Gates’ New York office, where she was a partner.

US
• Weil Gotshal & Manges has hired William Burck as a partner in its investigations and ­criminal defence practice in Washington DC. He was formerly deputy counsel to the US president.
• O’Melveny & Myers has hired partner Steven Tonsfeldt in its Silicon Valley M&A practice. He was a former partner at Heller Ehrman, where he was co-chair of the firm’s corporate group.
• McKool Smith has taken on partners Jack Cooney and Thomas Engel in its New York office. Both were former federal prosecutors in New York and will lead McKool’s white-collar crime practice. Cooney was a partner at Davis Polk & Wardwell and Engel was a partner at Howrey.

OFFSHORE
• Ogier has overhauled its group management team. Nick Kershaw has become group chief ­executive officer, having previously been ­managing partner of Ogier’s Jersey legal ­business. Clive Chaplin has been appointed
non-executive group chairman. He was
previously head of Ogier ­Jersey’s business trust and law group.
• Mourant has promoted the following to senior associate in its finance and funds teams: Tony Gibson in the Cayman Islands; Marcel Cariou in Guernsey; and Matthew Shaxson and Warren Simmons in Jersey.
• Maitland has hired David Pytches as a partner in its Cayman Islands operation, where he will head the non-contentious commercial and ­private trusts team. He was formerly an associate at Walkers.

THE BAR
• Hailsham Chambers has taken on barrister Niamh O’Reilly as a tenant following the ­completion of her pupillage. O’Reilly specialises in professional negligence, medical law, personal injury, regulatory and disciplinary areas.

APPOINTMENTS
Boyes Turner medical negligence partner Adrian Desmond has been elected as the new chairman of the Forum of Complex Injury ­Solicitors. He takes over from Charles Russell consultant Richard Vallance.
