<a class=Mayer Brown, Nabarro, Speechly, TLT end redundancy talks” />Nabarro has confirmed that it is laying off a total of 22 people across its London and Sheffield offices after concluding a redundancy consultation programme.

The firm is one of a number including Mayer Brown, Speechly Bircham and TLT Solicitors to conclude its programme.

As reported by, Nabarro began redundancy talks with 22 members of staff at the end of last year (7 November 2008).

At the end of the consultation all 22 have lost their jobs. Ten associates in London and three in Sheffield have been laid off as well as six support staff in London and three in Sheffield.

All practice areas were affected by the cuts, with corporate and real estate understood to have suffered the largest number of losses.

At Mayer Brown, nine London lawyers have been laid off after the firm consulted with a total of 11 (21 November 2008). The cuts were part of a global cost-cutting drive that saw 33 US lawyers lose their jobs.

Speechly Bircham confirmed that it has laid off all eight lawyers it was consulting with but refused to comment on the number of partners that have been asked to leave the firm. As reported on in January the firm expected that between one and five partners would be laid off (5 January).

Southwest firm TLT Solicitors has laid of 15 members of staff after talking with up to 20. In total the firm has made 26 people redundant since last year, having laid off 11 people, mainly in its licensed trade team, last May.
