Eversheds has won a mandate as the sole adviser to the organiser of the world’s first zero-carbon grand prix, which will take place on the Isle of Man TT circuit in June 2009.

Media and IP partner Phil Sherrell and associate Neil Mohring are acting for organiser of the event, TTXGP.

“There are some complicated IP issues around the use of the TT marks,” said Sherrell. “There’s corporate work to do on investment into the race and the usual licensing stuff such as T-shirts and broadcast rights.”

He said the work was referred by Amjad Hussain, a banking partner at Eversheds’ Doha office, who had previously worked with the entrepreneur behind the race.

Sherrell said he expected the event to be a hit: “They’re already over their quota for entrants, which is about 20 riders. There are a lot of universities in the UK and big race brands that are creating bikes.”

TTXGP is also the manufacturer of the world’s fastest clean energy motorbike, which can reach speeds of 125 miles per hour, called the TTX01. The bike is powered by two electric motors. Bikes in the race can use electric power, fuel cells or non-carbon fuel.
