It’s all kicking off this week down at the London Central Employment Tribunal. At the hearing today (see story) it emerged that several senior figures in Freshfields’ management – including senior partner Guy Morton and chief executive Ted Burke – will be called as witnesses.
The case has huge ramifications both for age discrimination in the City and also for Freshfields. Few former partners of major law firms have ever felt impelled to sue their former partnerships. With law firms across the country rationalising their equity, alot of managing partners will be nervously awaiting the outcome.
