Davies Arnold Cooper has boosted its international litigation practice by hiring British Virgin Islands-qualified partner James ­Hilsdon (above). He joins from The Khan Partnership, along with two associates Dipti Hunter and Simon Paget Brown. Head of litigation John Bramhall said international disputes involving offshore ­elements were a “key priority” for the firm.


Linklaters has recruited Peter Hickman as its chief financial officer. He was previously with HBOS, and before that spent eight years at Ernst & Young.
K&L Gates has taken on Dan Wise as a partner in the employment group. He joins from ­Speechly Bircham, where he was an associate.
• Howard Kennedy has hired property litigation partner Michele-Anne Freyne from Mayer Brown, where she was head of property litigation in London.
• IP specialist Rouse & Co has taken on Tim Smith as deputy international service head for Asia ­litigation. He was previously with the ­International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, where he was a senior legal adviser.
Browne Jacobson has appointed three new City partners. They are: professional indemnity specialist Jonathan Corman from Squire & Co, insurance lawyer Jon Sharp from consultancy Global Re and corporate partner Ben Habershon, who joins from Healys.
• Morris Bentata has joined media boutique Sheridans as a partner, specialising in sports and media. He was previously at Bird & Bird.
• Former Boyes Turner IT litigation partner Geoff Mendelsohn has moved to Nabarro as a partner. He will join the IT and communications group.
• Prettys has recruited Jon Miller as a partner in Chelmsford. Prior to this, he worked at Fenwick Elliott.
• Oxford firm Darbys has taken on corporate assistants Daniel Hopkins from Moorcrofts and Jonathan Williamson from Wedlake Bell.


• Lanyon Bowdler Solicitors has hired ­assistant Jenny Gibson from employment ­boutique PJH Law in Lincolnshire.


• Anthony Hughes, former managing partner of Preston-based Ricksons, who led its 2007 ­merger with DWF, is leaving the firm to become chief executive of Manchester-based law firm Horwich Farrelly.
• Beachcroft has expanded its employment team in Leeds with the appointment of Claire Reynolds as an associate. She joins from ­Hempsons in Harrogate.


• London-based Norton Rose banking partner Caroline Hurley is moving to Moscow to lead the firm’s Russian banking practice.
DLA Piper has appointed former Clifford Chance associate Christian Wolf as counsel in its IP and technology practice in Frankfurt.
• Munich technology specialist MLawGroup has hired life sciences partner Henning Mennenoh from Hogan & Hartson.
• Gide Loyrette Nouel partner Jean-Christophe Valette has moved from Paris to the firm’s ­Warsaw M&A practice.
• DLA Piper has expanded its employment ­practice by hiring partner Dirk Jan Rutgers from local firm Kennedy Van der Laan. He joins along with two associates in Amsterdam.

US/South America

• Arnold & Porter has hired Claudius Sokenu as a securities enforcement partner. He was ­previously at Mayer Brown.
• Juan Carlos Ferrer has joined K&L Gates’ Miami office as a partner, leaving Harper Meye.
• Brazilian firm Veirano Advogados has recruited Pedro Aguiar de Freitas as a corporate partner. He rejoins the firm after spending six years as chief in-house lawyer at mining group Vale.
Covington & Burling has hired antitrust ­partner Thomas Barnett, who was previously assistant attorney general at the Justice ­Department’s antitrust division.
• Sara Kelsey has joined WilmerHale as counsel in the financial institutions group in New York. She was previously general counsel of the ­Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.


• Dickinson Cruickshank has promoted Isle of Man-based Claire Milne to the partnership. She heads the IT/IP team in Douglas.
