Finance deals round-up

Ashurst (Philip Broke) advised UK stockbroker Panmure Gordon on the £14.3m rights issue and cash placing by ML Laboratories. Stringer Saul (David Smith) represented ML Laboratories.

Linklaters (Phil Charlton) acted for ABN AMRO Bank as arranger on the €3bn (£2.05bn) programme for the online issue of retail notes into the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Allen & Overy advised GMAC International Finance as issuer and General Motors Acceptance Corporation as issuer and guarantor on English, German and Dutch law and on New York law and tax. Lenz & Staehelin acted for the issuers/guarantor on Swiss law and tax. GMAC International Finance was advised internally.

Denton Wilde Sapte (Rahail Ali) advised HSBC Amanah Finance and HSBC Bank on the $100m (£54.5m) Islamic financing deal for Turkish mobile company Turkcell. Ozel & Ozel advised Turkcell.

DLA represented Barclays Bank Leveraged Finance on the issue of £18m of senior and working capital debt funding. The notes issue was used in part to fund the £26m secondary management buyout of European Golf Brands. SJ Berwin advised Graphite Capital, the private equity investor. Berwin Leighton Paisner acted for the management/vendor.

King & Spalding (John Keffer in London and Gary Saunders in New York) advised Foster Wheeler Energy on a $45m (£24.5m) revolving credit facility provided by an affiliate of Ableco Finance, a US private finance firm. Schulte Roth & Zabel (Dan Oshinsky) and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (David Ereira) acted for Ableco Finance.
