Lupton Fawcett was tipped off by one of its own lawyers, who spotted the ad in Awaaz magazine.
Deepak Prasad of Prasad Solicitors said: “I got a letter to say that they [Lupton Fawcett] have copyright and I wrote a letter back to say that I’m very sorry, but I didn’t realise they had a copyright. And it’s not exactly The Guardian or The Telegraph.”
Prasad said that he accepts Lupton Fawcett’s argument and that he has made sure the adverts will not appear again.
Lupton Fawcett runs the adverts two or three times a month in the Yorkshire Post and in some local business magazines.
“It’s bizarre that it should be a lawyer and he claims he didn’t know he was doing anything wrong,” exclaimed a Lupton Fawcett spokesperson.
