Price has forged a strong reputation for sports law advice on the back of a string of high-profile securitisations for football clubs.
He was director of legal affairs at Newcastle United before joining DLA and advised it on what was the first securitisation by a football club of future gate receipts in December 1999. Since then, he has worked on securitisations of Leeds United, Manchester City, Liverpool FC and Leicester City.
Quentin Smith, head of Addleshaws' sports unit, told The Lawyer: “Until recently, people would have said that sports law is a conglomeration of skills. But sport is a business and you need specialised lawyers. Andrew comes with an incredible pedigree.”
In addition to his securitisation work, Price advised Newcastle United on its flotation and has worked on rights exploitation and sponsorship agreements.
Addleshaws is keen to build on the reputation gained by its appointment as official lawyer to the 2002 Commonwealth Games. The firm has also advised on merchandising issues related to the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup and other clients include Adidas, Manchester United and Ferrari.
Last month, the firm recruited Tony Singh from Sports.com as a commercial consultant to its sports practice.
