Quintain Estates and Development is kick-starting a review of both its internal legal department and external advisers.
The review at the property group, which has an annual legal spend of £3m, coincides with the appointment of company secretary Charlotte Eastwood to the newly-created role of head of legal.
Eastwood will oversee the reappraisal of Quintain’s legal functions after she takes up the post later this month.
Eastwood, a qualified solicitor, has informally overseen the group’s legal functions during the past two years while she has occupied the company secretary position.
However, the group is understood to be recruiting a replacement for the company secretary role to allow Eastwood to focus on the group’s legal department.
As part of this restructuring, Quintain, which is developing a mixed-use project around the site of the new Wembley Stadium, will launch an informal review to assess the efficiency of its panel of external advisers.
The group’s existing panel of law firms includes Nabarro Nathanson, which has historically advised on the majority of Quintain’s legal matters. Other panel firms include Berwin Leighton Paisner, Bond Pearce, Lovells, Maxwell Batley, Shepherd + Wedderburn, SJ Berwin and Taylor Wessing.
The process is expected to take up to six months and will focus on ensuring the firm’s panel of external legal advisers is as cost-effective and competitive as possible.
