Monckton wins judicial adviser pair

Competition specialist Monckton Chambers’ diverse approach to recruitment has scooped the set two senior judicial advisers.

John Holmes, the current legal adviser to the leading judge of the European Court of Justice (ECJ), Advocate-General Jacobs, will join Monckton in October.

At the same time, Ben Rayment, legal secretary to the chairman of the Competition Appeals Tribunal, Sir David Bellamy, will move to the set.

Monckton specialises in hiring people from varied backgrounds. Other recent recruits include Mario Angiolini, who prior to Monckton arranged sponsorship deals for car rally teams, and Meredith Pickford, an ex-City economist.

In the last financial year, Monckton saw turnover grow to £8.7m, an increase of nearly £1m on the previous 12 months, while average income per tenant has almost doubled since 1999 to £273,000.
