Tulkinghorn is a veteran of the clubbing scene. He has been to the Garrick, the Athenaeum and Boodles, and enjoys crawling home in the early hours of the morning full of a fine port.
But he’s interested in a new club that has opened on the small Spanish island of Ibiza, called Manumission. Apparently all the best-connected partners are seen there, including Tulkinghorn regular Mark Stephens of Finers Stephens Innocent.
Stephens told one of Tulkinghorn’s scribes that he visited the fine establishment while on a client meeting. Some meeting.
Apparently Stephens’ daughter happened to be visiting the club at the same time, leaving the poor partner no choice but to moderate his usually unreserved behaviour.
After all, it wasn’t bring-your-daughter-to-work day, or even bring-your-father-to-an-enormous-disco-while-you-are-with-your-friends day.
Tulkinghorn notes that moderation must run in the Stephens family. He told the scribe that his daughter had nothing but water to drink all night.
