David Hyams, the head of legal at Fujitsu Computers (Europe) has resigned after Fujitsu and fellow computer giant, Siemens AG joined forces to form a new joint venture company.
The new entity – Fujitsu Siemens Computers BV – was launched on 1 October.
Hyams, vice president of legal and commercial affairs at the European arm of the Japanese computer conglomerate, left the same day.
It is understood Hyams, who joined Fujitsu three years ago as its first in-house counsel. turned down the head of legal post at the new joint venture and the hunt is now on to find a replacement.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers BV will be the world's biggest PC and server manufacturer outside the US and will swallow up practically all of Fujitsu Computers (Europe).
The whole of Fujitsu's legal team will reportedly be moved over to the new group which will be based in the Netherlands. Lawyers from the Siemens team may also be transferred over.
