Clyde & Co has been granted a licence by the Qatar Financial Centre Authority and will open in Doha, with the launch planned for March.
Clydes was granted its licence to open in the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) on 27 December last year, becoming only the second international firm, along with Eversheds, to be granted a licence.
As first reported by The Lawyer (13 November 2006), Clydes was one of several UK firms, including DLA Piper, Denton Wilde Sapte and Trowers & Hamlins, looking to expand their Middle East presences into Qatar.
Clydes Middle East regional managing partner Jonathan Silver said the opening was demanded by the firm’s clients and would be built up to a full-service offering.
“This is a natural extension of Clyde & Co’s Middle East operations and a major step forward in the development of the firm in the region,” explained Silver.
