Ex-Freshfields star boosts Nabarros’ real estate team

Nabarros’ real estate team” />The high-profile former global head of real estate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer James George has resurfaced as part of a double lateral hire by Nabarro Nathanson.

He joins Nabarros’ partnership as the firm also takes on Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) partner Delia Kempley, just weeks after former Fladgate Fielder partner Eamonn Cannon joined as a consultant.

George was head of Freshfields’ corporate property group from 1994-2000 and joint global head of the real estate practice group from 2000-2002. He was a key player in the massive outsourcing deals for Land Securities Trillium, leading teams on the high-profile BBC and DSS Prime deals. George won Trillium as a client in 1996 before it was acquired by Land Securities in 2000. He also has strong links with US investment banks, particularly Goldman Sachs, which owned Trillium until 2000. Nabarros is also a Trillium panel member.

Kempley, who joined BLP from Ashurst Morris Crisp in 1998, has a particular expertise in large-scale development work – an area that Nabarros now plans to expand.

Senior real estate partner Kevin Stimpson said: “With Delia, Eamonn and James on board, we can strengthen our position for corporatised real estate work and the growing array of finance-driven real estate transactions, as well as continuing to build on our established real estate development work.”

Cannon, 61, is fee-earning full time, but joined as a consultant because of Nabarros’ compulsory retirement age of 60. The former head of the property development group at Fladgates has key relationships with Capital & Regional and Morley Fund Management.
