Mayer Brown hires new telecoms partner

Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw has poached telecoms specialist Robert Bratby from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr.

Bratby will join Mayer Brown’s London corporate group as a partner starting in early September. He will be based in the firm’s communications team.

Bratby joined Wilmer Cutler in 2003, where he was of counsel, and has worked on both the regulatory and transactional aspects of the telecoms sector. Prior to that he worked at COLT Telecom where he held both legal and commercial positions. Bratby has also worked on secondment at OFTEL, the UK telecoms regulator.

Mayer Brown’s communication team currently has thirty lawyers with three partners including senior partner Paul Maher. Clients include Cable & Wireless, Reuters and AT&T.

Speaking about the appointment Maher told The Lawyer: “We have been looking to strengthen our communications team and Robert brings with him an interesting mix of regulation and commercial expertise.”
