High success rate for LPC students

More than 80 per cent of students who undertook the first year of the Law Society's new legal practice course have passed. Figures released by the society last week show 17 per cent of students received distinctions while a further 44 per cent were commended. The course, taught by 16 institutions in England and Wales, took on 5,790 full-time students in its first year. Of these, 4,691 gained an overall pass with 960 winning distinctions and 2,549 commendations. Chair of the LPC board, Paul Pharoah, says: “Everyone concerned regards the course as a great improvement on its predecessor, the finals course.”
