White & Case is the latest City firm to announce salary increases, with newly qualified lawyers seeing a 12.6 per cent rise from £67,500 to £76,000.
Trainees have done better out of the rises than their equivalents at Clifford Chance, with new trainee salaries rising 13.8 per cent from £36,000 to £41,000, while newly qualified lawyers fared better than they would have at Allen & Overy.
Last month (12 April) The Lawyer reported that Clifford Chance had increased its trainee salaries by around 15 per cent from £31,400 to £35,700. Soon after (24 April) Allen & Overy announced its 18 per cent salary increase, which included the 15 per cent announced in October, for newly qualified lawyers, with the total rising to £64,900.
At White & Case increases ranged from 12 per cent to 18 per cent for varying levels of experience.
The firm has also announced its plans to add another 50 fee-earners to the London team during the coming year.
