US firm Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom’s London office has scored a bumper crop of new counsel in the latest round of promotions, which saw 43 promoted to the role worldwide.
The London office netted three new counsel, compared with just one last year. The new counsel are in addition to the two new partners the office garnered in April’s round of partner promotions.
That too was a boon to the office and the most partners London had received in promotions in four years.
There is a precedent for counsel to be promoted quickly into the partnership. Last year’s counsel promotion in London, Shaun Lascelles, was made a corporate partner in April.
The number of associates promoted to counsel has increased by more than a third on last year, when 32 promotions were announced.
The new London counsel are arbitration and litigation lawyer Patrick Heneghan and corporate finance experts Nikolas Colbridge and James McDonald.
