CC closes Padua office

Clifford Chance has shut down its seven-lawyer Padua office, the smallest in the firm’s network.

The lawyers have all been offered positions in the firm’s Milan and Rome offices.

The office in the northeast of Italy had originally been the focus for major clients in the region such as Generali.

However, after Padua managing partner Gian Andrea Rizzieri moved to the Milan office last year, the firm found that the region could be served from Milan.

A source at the firm said: “During the last year to 18 months we realised that a physical presence in Padua wasn’t really needed. The clients don’t request to come to the office there. They look to Milan and are fine with it. Padua’s the smallest office in Clifford Chance globally.”

The Padua group is made up of four associates and three trainees.
