Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is reorganising the management of its Italian practice.
Joint office managing partner (OMP) for Italy Laurie McFadden is returning to London in September after more than four years in Italy. He was instrumental in setting up the Italian practice, which has since grown to more than 120 lawyers.
McFadden will be replaced by corporate finance partner Philip Richards, who co-heads Freshfields’ financial institutions group. As well as client work, he will share management responsibilities in Italy with current joint OMP Mario Ortu, for an initial term of four years.
McFadden will continue his M&A and private equity practice with Freshfields in London and expects to take an active involvement in Italy-related matters.
“Italy’s one of the key European markets. It’s considered core for us to be there and to continue our development,” he says.
