Taylor Wessing partners have given the green light to roll out an ambitious European expansion strategy targeting Italy, Spain and the Netherlands.

The plan was ratified at the partnership retreat in Frankfurt last weekend.

Taylor Wessing’s UK managing partner Mike Frawley said the strategy was effectively a confirmation of the former strategy. He said: “This is the first time all two hundred-plus partners were asked to vote on it.”

It is understood that the result was 95 per cent in favour.

The firm has also reduced the size of its international management board, which previously featured some 15 partners. The new “executive committee’ consists of the managing partners of the UK, France and Germany and former UK managing partner Gary Moss.

The firm will focus on three core practice areas (corporate/commercial, intellectual property and real estate) as well as employment, tax structuring, finance and dispute resolution. Industry sector targets are media and entertainment, life sciences and healthcare, finance, real estate, technology and IT and hospitality.
