Eversheds partner Eamon Moloney was happily celebrating his victory in the Best Lawyer Involved in Boats Award at a recent boating bash (extremely prestigious, but not as glam as The Lawyer Awards), when he realised his gong had gone missing.
Moloney tramped home depressed while his clients and guests PD Teesport carried on the festivities long into the night. Later, while boozing in a nearby hostelry, they noticed a bunch of inebriated reprobates from Hoffmann-La Roche gleefully tossing around an award.
On closer inspection it became clear that this was in fact Moloney’s missing award. And so, after much argument, the PD Teesport team wrestled the award from the dastardly clutches of the Hoffmann crew.
It will be restored at this Wednesday’s (9 March) meeting of the Tees and Hartlepool Port Users Committee, subject of course to settlement of their claim for salvage. Proof, if ever it was needed, that acts of piracy are as prevalent among law firms as they are among their clients.
