Related London firms McFaddens Solicitors and McFadden Pilkington & Ward US Attorneys have launched a transatlantic alliance with top Miami firm Steel Hector & Davis.
The alliance will be called SHD McFaddens and will draw on the resources of the London firms’ 10 lawyers and the 220 lawyers at Steel Hector.
“It’s an eight-year relationship, which everyone decided it would be sensible to formalise,” said SHD McFaddens founding partner Greg Pilkington, who will remain a partner at McFadden Pilkington & Ward.
Steel Hector has a strong focus on Latin America. It was founded in 1925 in Florida, where it has five offices. It has additional offices in Argentina, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Washington DC. Sixty of its lawyers are based in Latin America.
The three firms will continue as separate entities. Pilkington told The Lawyer: “It’s a formal affiliation, a contractual relationship, which means that we’ll be integrated into their systems and they into ours.
“We’re creating a new entity that draws on the experience of all three firms to focus on the growing Anglo-American-Hispanic marketplace.”
