Crutes scores role on £17m JJB Soccer Domes sale

Newcastle’s Crutes has assisted the Powerleague Group in its £17m asset purchase of JJB Soccer Domes indoor and outdoor football pitches across five sites.

Powerleague has bought 69 football pitches across the north of England, including the world’s largest five-a-side football centre, the Manchester Soccer Dome based at the Trafford Centre.

Crutes corporate partner Anne McCulloch said: “I’m not a football fan myself so the football element wasn’t particularly interesting from my perspective, but the deal was a significant expansion for Powerleague itself, which has grown partly organically and through acquisitions.”

McCulloch and property partner ;Gareth ;Jones advised Powerleague, which was an existing client of the firm. JJB was advised by DLA Piper partner Jonathan Watkins.

It ;also ;includes ;an agreement whereby JJB will become ;Powerleague’s official retailer, selling JJB stock and goods at all Powerleague ;football centres across the UK.

Bank of Scotland corporate was Powerleague’s financial backer in the acquisition.
