Ashurst made up 17 associates to the partnership (www.thelawyer.com, 1 April), with corporate continuing to be the most promoted practice.
The group bagged six of this year’s partners – more than a third of the total, but also a 25 per cent drop on the eight promotions it saw last year, when 20 lawyers were made up overall.
Finance saw the second-largest number of promotions with four new partners, while the competition and the energy, transport and infrastructure groups promoted two each. The tax, employment and real estate teams made up one apiece. Senior partner Geoffrey Green said the promotions reflected Ashurst’s “strategy of investing in key areas and geographies in order to deliver continued growth despite market volatility”.
Six of the 17, or 35 per cent, of the new partners are female, marking a significant increase on last year’s 20.7 per cent.
This ;is ;the ;highest proportion ;of ;female promotions among any top firm so far this year, matched only by Pinsents.
Pinsents also matched cutting the number of new partners from 20 last year to 17, with six women (www. thelawyer.com, 31 March).
The projects and construction group received six of the 17 new partners, while real estate received three, with corporate, banking, employment and construction bagging two apiece.
Managing partner David Ryan said the new partners were ;”an ;encouraging reflection not only on them, but on the health of our business”.
Addleshaws made up nine – almost double last year’s five (www.thelawyer. com, 4 April).
Six of the nine are female, compared with a testosterone-heavy 2007, when all five new partners were male.
Corporate saw three made ;up, ;while ;the commercial tax, real estate finance, financial regulation, private capital, banking and commercial ;litigation groups took one each.
Nabarro promoted five this year, two down on last year’s seven. Three are in real estate, with one each in tax and employment.
Dundas ;& ;Wilson promoted six, half of them in corporate (3 April).
