The appointment of Harris, who joins as an equity partner, takes the number of partners in the practice group to three, including managing partner David Orchard.
Orchard said: “We needed a dedicated specialist in the area.” He added that the firm is also looking to grow the insolvency group.
Harris has been at Eversheds since it merged with Jaques & Lewis in 1995. She qualified at Jaques & Lewis in 1983.
The appointment comes after last week’s announcement that the firm was taking on former London Stock Exchange chief executive Gavin Casey as a consultant. “Gavin has been brought in principally to provide strategic advice to the firm,” said Orchard.
Harris, who joins on 1 May, will take the total number of partners at the firm to 13, with a further two being made up internally at the beginning to July.
