There have been several alleged sightings of Lord Lucan since his disappearance in 1974. This is bad news for Bingham, who is being denied a seat in the House of Lords after Lord Irvine denied his application on the grounds his father may not be dead.
QCs. The Legal Aid Board unveiled plans to slash top silks' fees by introducing a strict new regime of fixed hourly rates and pre-arranged hours per case early next year. High-ranking barristers take the blame for the one per cent of cases which swallow 40 per cent of legal aid in the crown courts. The LAB is particularly keen to ensure barristers are paid no more than judges.
