Tulkinghorn likes the entrepreneurial spirit in people. And, as a result, he is full of admiration for this year’s intake of trainees at Scottish firm Burness.
The trainees had booked a drinks party at a venue in Scotland and were looking forward to a good old-fashioned, team-building bash.
But fate intervened in the form of a police raid on the venue for suspected drugs offences. The bar was shut down and its licence revoked, with the Burness trainees forced to look elsewhere for their knees-up.
But refusing to be bowed by the experience, they promptly took on the bar’s defence brief pro bono.
