Corrs Chambers Westgarth is further ramping up its corporate practice with two high profile partner hires from Clayton Utz and Deacons, and at the same time taking on a property partner from Minter Ellison.
Clayton Utz’s head of transport and logistics Michael Harrison and Deacons head of M&A and private equity Richard Lewis will join Corr’s corporate team, while Matthew Seymour will join property.
Lewis, who is being brought in to head Corrs’ private equity group, said he “wished to firmly establish Corrs as a premier private equity law firm in Australia”.
Corrs remains outside the big six, turning over A$176m (£72.2m) in 2002-03. However, despite the number of partners at Corrs falling by 4 per cent last year, its 10 per cent growth in fee income outweighed that of the top six.
