Hammonds is losing two of its most senior partners in Brussels after talks to try and keep them with the firm failed.
Brussels competition head José Rivas and trade partner Edward Borivikov are both leaving Hammonds after weeks of negotiation. As first revealed by www.thelawyer.com (1 September) the pair resigned alongside office head Konstantinos Adamantopoulos earlier this year.
However the firm has persuaded Adamantopoulos, who sits on Hammonds’ partnership board, to stay.
Managing partner Peter Crossley said in a statement: “We are committed to the ongoing development of our Brussels office and are confident of the team’s future success.”
The departures leave Hammonds with just three partners in Brussels, which is its oldest European office. As well as Adamantopoulos, Jonathan Branton, who was made up in 2003, and Steven Geerlings, hired from GE Commercial Distribution Finance in 2004, are based in the city.
The loss of Rivas and Borivikov brings the number of partners to leave Hammonds since June this year to 13. The departures have affected turnover for the first six months of the current financial year, with static half-year results of around £65m expected.
