Tulkinghorn and his scribes were out in force at Lawrence Graham’s Halloween party last Tuesday (31 October), attracted by the annual promise of chocolate fountains and palm readers.
Tulkinghorn was not disappointed. Lawrence Graham senior partner Bill Richards got a real probing from the palm reader. It seems Richards may hit the after-dinner speaking circuit when he retires – his hands show the qualities of showmanship. The palm reader also noticed that he liked the outdoors, which Richards put down to his love of golf.
Richards conceived a cunning plan and sent the palm reader off to examine the hands of managing partner Penny Francis.
“I want you to come and find me and report back,” said Richards, looking for the inside track. Sadly Tulkinghorn, distracted by the general hob-nobbing, was not around to hear the results.
