US law firm Hunton & Williams has appointed AIM specialist Martin Thomas as managing partner of the firm’s London office.

He replaces Drew Murphy, who has returned to the United States where he will continue to head the firm’s energy and project finance practice.

Thomas joined Hunton & Williams in September last year from Hammonds where he was the head of equity capital markets.

Thomas said one of his first duties in his new role would be to continue the expansion of the firm’s London office, which has introduced 10 laterals to its capital markets, energy and project finance and financial services practices in the last eight months.

He will also be responsible for strategic planning, operations, business development and client service activity within the London office.
