Linklaters is continuing its New York hiring spree with the capture of banking partner Jeff Norton from O’Melveny & Myers.

As first revealed on www.thelawyer.com (3 June), the magic circle firm has recruited Norton in a bid to boost its US and international banking and capital markets expertise. The appointment comes just months after Jones Day banking partner Michael Bassett joined Linklaters’ New York office in January.

Norton is the firm’s sixth US lateral hire in nine months. In August 2004 it appointed Stroock & Stroock & Lavan restructuring partner Mark Palmer, closely followed by structured finance specialist Adam Glass from Sidley Austin Brown & Wood.

Shearman & Sterling‘s former co-head of securitisation and derivatives Gary Barnett followed last September and investment management partner Scott Bowie joined from Latham & Watkins in February .

Linklaters US managing partner Paul Wickes said Norton’s hire was in response to client demand.
