Linklaters & Paines has strengthened its Hong Kong intellectual property (IP) practice with the addition of it first locally-qualified partner to the group.
Rebecca Lo, who leaves local Hong Kong firm Hastings & Co where she was a partner, will be the firm's second specialist IP partner in Hong Kong alongside department head Tom Hope.
Lo is admitted to practice as a solicitor and barrister in Australia, and as a solicitor in Hong Kong, England and Wales. She is also a qualified as an advocate and solicitor in Singapore and is a member of the California Bar.
Jeremy Brown, head of IP in London said Lo's arrival added to the IP practice both at a local and international level. “She is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin and already has a substantial international reputation,” he said.
Lo and Hope lead a team of locally-qualified Chinese lawyers and are supported by two general litigation partners. Brown said the IP practice in Hong Kong handles a lot of litigation work in Asia generally with about half of its work deriving from China.
