Working on a fruit and nut stall in Warrington market.
What was your worst experience as a trainee?
Assisting with a video deposition in a dark room on a lovely spring Friday night, which ran on until after midnight (and which also happened to be my birthday).
If you weren’t a lawyer what would you have been?
What do you do at weekends?
Enjoy my family and, since relocating to Kent, learn how to look after chickens and grow vegetables.
What’s your favourite film?
Who’s your hero and why?
Anyone who juggles a career with a family and emerges unscathed.
What’s the toughest thing about your job?
Business trips that take me away from my family.
What’s your biggest work/career mistake and what did you learn from it?
Agreeing to demonstrate to the judge in court how best to lay a laminate floor. I learnt that it’s difficult to do without the correct underlay, a suitable hammer and while wearing a skirt.
What car do you drive?
Audi A4 or Volvo XC90.

23 Things They Don’t Tell you about Capitalism by Ha-Joon Chang.
What’s your favourite children’s book?
Crazy Creature Capers by Hannah Reidy.
What’s the most exciting deal/case you’ve worked on?
The first case I ever worked on, which involved a client who insisted on driving incredibly fast while steering with his knees.
If you were stranded on a desert island what two luxury items would you take?
My new iPad and an alarmingly large stash of good white wine.
What’s the longest you’ve worked without sleep?
Thirty hours, but that included a 10-hour party.
If a movie was being made about your life, which actor would play you and why?
Someone gorgeous, witty and adorable. Presumably you’re allowed some artistic licence?
Who would you least like to be stuck in a lift with and why?

I once left my underwear on my supervising partner’s desk; I’ve had dinner with David Hasselhoff; I missed the call to say I was being offered a role as a qualified solicitor because I was asleep in the ladies’.
