Orrick’s new London head pledges continued growth

Structured finance specialist Martin Bartlam has been appointed the new head of Orrick’s London offfice.
Bartlam, a former Jones Day head of finance who spent two years as head of structured products at Credit Lyonnais (now Calyon) in London, joined Orrick in December 2004. He succeeds Adrian Harris, whose two-year term as office leader expired at the end of last year.
Bartlam said Orrick was looking to continue the growth of last year, although it was unlikely to be as spectacular as in 2005 when the London office more than doubled in size to 50 lawyers.
“We’ve built up a certain momentum but now we are looking to build depth in certain areas such as corporate, structured finance, arbitration and private equity,” he told The Lawyer. “We have a lean and profitable platform and for the right lawyers it’s a great platform.”
