IP and technology boutique Bristows has appointed corporate specialist Iain Redford as the second of two joint managing partners this year.
In May IT and data privacy specialist Mark Watts began a three-year term when he took over from one of the firm’s then joint managing partners Paul Walsh. Redford has now taken over from incumbent Pat Treacy, beginning his term in November.
Redford and Watts said they planned to “energetically” pursue the strategy of being an independent firm focused on IP and IT put in place by their predecessors.
“We also expect to explore opportunities in complementary areas, particularly transactional and corporate,” added Watts.
In a separate development, all-equity Bristows has appointed director of finance and administration Jerry Merton to the partnership. He becomes the firm’s first non-lawyer partner.
