Regional law firm Howes Percival is representing Ian Lenagan on his takeover of Wigan Warriors Rugby League Club.

Lenagan is set to purchase an 89 per cent stake in the club via a newly formed holding company, with the deal due to complete in December.

Corporate partner Andrew Smith is leading the team, alongside tax partner James Morris, commercial property associate Chris Cubitt and employment director Taj Rehal.

Lenagan is buying his stake in the club from Dave Whelan, who was advised by Platt & Fishwick partner David Mayes.

Howes Percival previously advised Lenagan and business partner Nick Merry when they acquired Oxford United Football Club in March 2006.
