Hammonds launches mediation capability

Hammond Suddards Edge has launched a mediation initiative entitled Hammonds Mediation. The firmwide scheme has been established to raise the profile of the mediation activities undertaken by Hammonds.
The initiative has been championed by commercial dispute resolution partner Charles Middleton-Smith. He will lead a team of dedicated partners and other fee-earners, all of whom are accredited mediators.
The premise is to present Hammonds lawyers and clients with the opportunity to receive training in handling disputes.
The initiative is intended to offer clients advice concerning setting up internal dispute resolution schemes and to review dispute resolution mechanisms in contracts.
Peter Crossley, a partner at Hammonds and head of the commercial dispute resolution practice, said: “It's just doing the mediation thing, if you like, in an organised and focused way.” The service will be offered to existing clients and as a means of generating new business.
