Property duo quit Finers

Finers Stephens Innocent is set to lose two more property partners, making six partner departures from the property team in less than a year.

The firm’s entire property trading group is leaving for the Simkins Partnership, together with all their clients.

Head of property trading Sam Charkham is leaving with partner Sal Mamujee. Finers’ head of property David Battiscombe left for Berwin Leighton Paisner in December and Nicola Armstrong, Alex Davies and Nicola Kravitz also left the department last year.

Property remains the highest grossing department in the firm, accounting for 37 per cent of the firm’s £16m turnover, but it is understood that tensions with central management have caused some of the departures. The nine-partner group is now run by Melvyn Orton and James Harvey.

Finers’ managing partner Anthony Barling said: “We have good management in the department and we fully understand what they are trying to achieve. Sam and Sal are engaged in a particular area of property trading, which isn’t an area we’ve invested in for some time. Very amicably, they’ve decided to go somewhere else and we wish them well.”
