CJA criticises judicial appointments

An independent report released last week slammed the way in which senior judges are appointed. The Commission for Judicial Appointments (CJA) reported back after an exhaustive audit of the appointment of High Court judges had allowed it access to every stage of the process. The commissioners found that the system is unfair and “founded on patronage”; they are now recommending an urgent overhaul of the entire process.
