SJ Berwin’s associate representative body has elected its 2009 committee, which has vowed to improve junior lawyers’ opportunities amid the recession.
The firm’s associates have voted in seven new members to their associate solicitors forum (ASF), which is made up of a total of 27 representatives.
Five-year post-qualification experience planning and environment associate Emma Herriman was re-elected to the position of ASF chair.
Employment associate Claire Brattey and litigation associate Faye Parker were appointed as joint secretaries to the committee.
Herriman told The Lawyer the ASF’s 2009 agenda would be dominated by the credit crunch, adding: “We’re looking at relaxing current policies on sabbaticals, secondments and moving across teams so we can ensure that the firm makes good use of associates.”
