Symantec’s CSR drive goes global” />Symantec Corporation’s former head of legal is set to launch an environmental taskforce as part of the company’s global corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy.
Romny Gray, senior director of international corporate affairs, is working with the company’s Dublin base to launch a group that aims to make people more environmentally responsible.
Gray said: “I think CSR is the next step for lawyers who have led a legal function, because it flows very naturally around compliance and corporate governance.
“Worldwide, the Dublin site is a beacon within Symantec with regard to green initiatives, particularly in terms of recycling, reducing waste and reducing energy consumption.”
Part of the plan includes adding additional recycling bins around the office and encouraging staff to switch off their computers at the end of the day to conserve energy.
If successful the initiative could be rolled out to the company’s international branches around Europe and Asia.
Gray was appointed to establish a CSR strategy for Symantec in Europe and Asia in July last year after the company signed up to the United Nations Global Compact, a network encouraging companies to adopt and report on socially responsible policies.
