Last Monday (29 January) Tulkinghorn ran a story about Herbert Smith planning partner Matthew White’s plan to abstain from the evils of alcohol for two months, motivated by the promise of a bottle of wine if successful.
As the story said: “Tulkinghorn just hopes it’s a very, very good bottle.”
Well, apparently it is. And there’s more than one. The next day the following email dropped into Tulkinghorn’s in-tray: “Just to let you know, I have heard on the grapevine that the ‘Tom Kingsley Abstinence Prize’ is 10 bottles of Château Lafite Rothschild 1961. I reckon Tom ‘Tiny’ Kingsley should invite The Lawyer out when the prize is handed over…”
However, when contacted, Tiny Tom denied the rumour, saying: “I can assure you that the best has not yet expanded to 10 bottles of anything.” Which would appear to put the cork in that.
