Addleshaw Goddard has moved to bolster is City-based private equity capability by relocating star performers from its northern offices to London.
The talent shift follows the hire of private equity rainmaker Andrew Carpenter from O’Melveny & Myers last December. Carpenter heads the six-partner practice that has been earmarked by the firm for investment and expansion.
Manchester-based senior associate Michael Hinchliffe is the first to be relocated to London full time.
“We want to grow our London offering to a level where we have a comparable market position to what we enjoy in the North,” said Hinchliffe, who leads the firm’s relationship with private equity and venture capital house 3i. “We feel we have enough resource in the North and there’s an opportunity to relocate to help the London office.”
