Herbert Smith’s burgeoning finance practice has raided Norton Rose for a new partner.
Andrew Newbery, an energy finance partner, quit earlier today (7 December) to join Herbert Smith. His departure date is still subject to negotiation.
Newbery is the third partner to be hired by Herbert Smith in just two weeks. As first revealed in The Lawyer on Monday (5 December) Herbert Smith swooped on Denton Wilde Sapte’s acquisition finance team and hired partners Chris Fanner and Ian Yeo.
Meanwhile, earlier in the year Herbert Smith appointed Linklaters senior associate Alexander Currie as a partner.
The latest hire further underlines Herbert Smith’s determination to bolster its finance practice under new leader Jason Fox.
Commenting on Newbery’s departure Norton Rose’s global head of banking Jeffery Barratt said: “We’re very sad to lose Andrew. I hope it goes really well for him at Herbert Smith.”
