Beachcroft is to acquire specialist London insurance boutique Williams Holden Cooklin Gibbons (WHCG).
It is the latest in a string of acquisitions for Beachcroft and will double the size of the firm’s London insurance market practice.
Beachcroft head of dispute resolution Trevor Chamberlain said: “This is strategic thinking. The firm’s a cracking fit for us and it further strengthens our links with the London market.”
Beachcroft said it would acquire four partners, two consultants, nine solicitors and eight support staff as part of the deal, as well as WHCG’s current premises in the City.
WHCG senior partner Hugh Williams commented: “We’ve brought a niche specialist insurance practice together with a firm with a huge breadth and depth
in what it offers to insurance clients.”
It has been a period of significant growth for Beachcroft, which has made strategic investment into both its insurance and public sector practices.
This included the acquisition of Eversheds’ northern healthcare team (The Lawyer, 27 October 2008) and Welsh volume firm Kingslegal (The Lawyer, 11 May).
